Отто Ранк(1884–1939) – австрийский психоаналитик, один из первых учеников и сподвижников Фрейда.

В 1906 году познакомился с основателем психоанализа, представив ему рекомендательное письмо от А.

Адлера и рукопись работы «Искусство и
художник». По совету Фрейда получил
университетское образование, став доктором философии.
На протяжении ряда лет – секретарь Венского
психоаналитического общества, редактор психоаналитического журнала «Имаго», директор Международного психоаналитического
издательства в Вене. Обладал значительной эрудицией и аналитическим даром толкования мифов, легенд, сновидений.
В 1924 году выдвинул идею о травме рождения,
согласно которой данное травматическое событие лежитв основе возникновения неврозов.
В 1935 году эмигрировал в США, практиковал
психоанализ и преподавал в различных университетах.
Выдвинул концепцию волевой терапии.
Автор работ «Миф о рождении героя» (1909),
«Мотив инцеста в поэзии и саге» (1912), «Травма рождения» (1924), «Волевая терапия» (1936) и других.

Вильгельм Флисс (1858–1928) – немецкий врач-отоларинголог,
работавший в Берлине. В 1887 году учился в Вене в аспирантуре, посетил лекцию
Фрейда по неврологии и через Брейера познакомился с ним.

Изучал проблемы женской сексуальности, исследовал связь между менструацией и
органами обоняния, ввел в научный оборот понятие бисексуальности.
В периоде 1887-го по 1904 год Фрейд вел переписку с ним,
обсуждал различные вопросы по неврологии и психологии, сообщал результаты клинической работы, делился творческими планами
и находками, связанными со становлением психоанализа.
Впервые эта переписка была опубликована с определенными сокращениями
в 1950 году под редакцией М. Бонапарт, А.
Фрейд и Э. Криса и полностью – в 1985 году
под редакцией Дж. Мэссона. Она содержала
не только разрозненные мысли Фрейда научного и интимного характера, но
и работу «Проект научной психологии» (1895),
в которой излагалась его теория невронов.
Данная переписка является важным историческим документом, позволяющим лучше понять историю возникновения психоанализа.
